Concept of purchase
Selected by smell
‘Matter and Smell’ raises questions about our purching mechanisms through the place of the sense of smell in our everyday life. Uncluttered and identical packagings create a standardization which allows to ‘choose only by smell’. That is the concept. The smell of the object’s material is perceptible with the scent paper strip. The choice is made without formal, color, or texture influences. Dematerialized, the object is appreciated for its smelling qualities before any visual, functional appreciations.
The realization of Backpacks ( cork, shweshwe, leather ) is as emblematic stuffs. They represent a concept which will be developed around a vaster range of objects.
